Gunner - do as I say, not as I do
Leave it to Robert (Bobby) Gunner Delay. He’s carping about Dustin McDaniel’s cozy relationship with Bruce Burrow and the mucho dinero that that relationship has garnered McDaniel in campaign contributions. Here’s what Gunner is saying:Â
Today, republican candidate for attorney general raised questions about contributions his opponent has received from Jonesboro developer, Bruce Burrow, and said “the relationship between the two men only demonstrates the need for serious campaign finance reform.â€Â
Delay was a former Arkansas State Representative and State Senator from Fort Smith before he took a step off the deep end when he ran for Congress in 2001. Now Gunner is talking about campaign finance reform? So what’s changed? Did the heavens open up this week and Gunner found that the campaign finance laws that have been in place here in Arkansas for decades now offends and needs change? Or, just Gunner trying to get some traction on a campaign that by last count had him down 14 monstrous points.
Here’s my point, Delay had plenty of chances as both a Representative and a Senator to draft legislation to reform campaign finance laws. With his press release today, Delay is apparently seeing things clearer now and wants to punish McDaniel for what all the brethren are guilty of, or wish they had friends who loved them as much as McDaniel’s do. Don’t get me wrong, we need campaign finance reform, but it seems a bit hollow coming from a guy who had plenty of chances to help legislate reforms, and didn’t.    Â

Robert Gunner Delay? Man I thought his name was Gunner. Robert huh? Bobby? Boy does that give a weird visual. Bobby Delay - coulda had fun with that.
I’m from Fort Smith and Delay was about as bad a legislator as he is an attorney. If I recall, I can’t remember any substantial piece of legislation that he brought to the table for our city. He was just another wingnut mouth piece for the relgious right.
