Ann Richards dies
I never met Ann, but have the great fortune of knowing and loving several key folks who worked in her campaign against Bush. How the world would have been different if Ann would of won that race. But the dirty politics of Karl Rove saw to that.Â

AUSTIN — A family spokeswoman says former Texas Governor Ann Richards has died after a battle with cancer. She was 73.
Â
Richards served as Texas governor for one term. She lost her re-election bid to Republican George W. Bush. Richards had said she entered politics to help others — especially women and minorities who were often ignored by Texas’ male-dominated establishment.
