Arkansas News’s Brummett writes that GOPers “know their candidate” for gov “is seriously behind, probably by a double-digit margin, and that it’s about time to drop a big negative one on” AG Mike Beebe (D).  “An October surprise may not wait.”  Ex-Rep. Asa Hutchinson (R) “probably won’t make this personal attack himself,” given his “precariously high negative ratings owning in part of the fact that some people mistake him for his remarried brother,” ex-Sen. Tim Hutchinson (R).  “It may
be time for Asa to retire” his “Asa!” bumper stickers for ones that say, “Not Tim!”

“The most obvious lines of attack are that Beebe” is too close to lobbyists, his law firm took a retainer from Entergy Corp and that he voted for tax increases.  But if GOPers “pull an October Surprise in September, it’ll have to do with” corruption allegations or “something heretofore obscure from Beebe’s active days as a trial lawyer, maybe.”
