Lawmakers’ per diem to increase - Legislative council approves rise to defray costs of attending meetings
A legislative committee voted Friday to increase the daily tax-free payment, or “per diem,†lawmakers get for attending meetings.
   The Arkansas Legislative Council approved raising the per diem from $125 per day for meetings in Little Rock to $130 per day.
   The rate for attending meetings in Hot Springs went from $125 to $136. The rate for meetings in other places in the state remained at $99 a day. Mileage reimbursement remained at 44.5 cents a mile.
   The council approved the increases with no debate.
