Where Bush’s Arrogance Has Taken Us
I found myself doing some necessary housekeeping (computer) on this fine afternoon in Arkansas, and I’ve spent the better part of an hour cleaning up files and putting things into their proper folders. To my surprise, I came across this “Where Bush’s Arrogance Has Taken Us”, an editorial by Jim Hightower over at TRUTHOUT. Don’t know how I missed sharing this gem with you, it’s a month old today, but frankly, the only things that have changed are the numbers the of dead, the continued draining of our treasury, and more arrogance and indifference to what the people of this great country are finally asking for; competence, honesty, integrity and above all accountability from this total failure that is the Bush Administration, and I’ll add Congress to that as well.
‘An illegal war, a long list of eroded rights, and a country run by and for the benefit of corporate campaign donors - all courtesy of the imperial presidency.’
During his gubernatorial days in Texas, George W let slip a one-sentence thought that unintentionally gave us a peek into his political soul. In hindsight, it should’ve been loudly broadcast all across our land so people could’ve absorbed it, contemplated its portent - and roundly rejected the guy’s bid for the presidency. On May 21, 1999, reacting to some satirical criticism of him, Bush snapped: “There ought to be limits to freedom.”
