Bouncing the wrong way - Bush below 40% - Rasmussen
Below 40%? It’s not looking good just 6 weeks out from the mid-term elections for the party that controls all 3 branches of government. But, it appears the American people and maybe the MSM are expecting Lucy to do some splaining.
As the Republican led Congress, who had thought that they were going to ride out on their white horses yesterday, proclaiming to Cemosabe that they successfully passed the antiterrorism bill (and forever protecting America) that all’s well with the world…and the polls, got caught up in their own web of lies.
First, yesterday afternoon the announcement of the immediate resignation of Republican Congressman Foley when it was revealed that the Congressman had “issues” with emails and young male pages. This ones about cybersex, pedophilia, abuse of power and a coverup starting at the top of the Republican Congressional leadership.
Secondly, Bob Woodard’s book “State of Denial”, a scathing assessment of the neocons and Bush’s rush to war and their refusal to face the harsh reality that Iraq if FUBAR, hits the streets Monday. Woodward will be doing the rounds starting Sunday, and most worrisome is the 60 minutes interview on primetime TV.
Thirdly, as if things weren’t bad enough, an immediate curfew on Baghdad was leaked. Seems there was an attack within the Green Zone.  Â
The President’s job approval among American adults fell a point today to 39% making it the first drop below 40% since early August. Fifty-eight percent (58%) disapprove of the way the President is performing his job.
President Bush receives approval among 44% of Caucasians and 29% of Americans of other ethnicities. His lowest approval rating, however, is among African Americans at a mere 9%. On a state-by-state basis, in 21 of 27 states surveyed by Rasmussen Reports recently the percentage of those who disapprove of the President’s job performance outweighs the percentage of those who approve. Bush fares exceptionally poorly in Oregon, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Washington .
It will be interesting to see where Bush and this Congress stands next week? I predict, it won’t be good news for the GOP.
