And how’d that work our for the Arkansas GOP? The Coalition for Arkansas’ Future spent $882K to attack Arkansas Democratic candidates. What did it get them? The lose of both the Governor’s and Lt. Governor’s seats and three House of Representative seats, giving the Democrats a supermajority in that chamber.

 The coalition spent more than $ 680, 000 to air, design and produce television ads critical of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike Beebe, the report said. Beebe handily defeated Republican nominee Asa Hutchinson.

The coalition spent more than $ 100, 000 on mailers and radio ads, the report said.

The mailers criticized Democratic candidates and praised GOP nominees in a dozen legislative races. Democrats won all but one of those races. Democrats picked up three seats to increase their ranks to 102 in the Legislature, reducing the GOP to 33 seats.

So was the coalition’s effort a big, costly flop ?

Not to hear the coalition and the GOP tell it.

They call it a success, because it provided information, even if in the end the GOP took a drubbing at the polls.
