Wes Clark, the continuing saga

We just love Phil C over at DailyKos - he’s marching on with his quest to educate all on why General Wesley K. Clark should be our democratic nominee and our next President of the United States. As always, we are proud to post anything Clark and are happy to say that Phil has educated us on some great things about Wes we did not know. Keep it up Phil - and one more thing - If you have been in Little Rock recently, as I have and happened to stop by the Clark organization - you would notice that there is a finely tuned and growing political machine being assembled. That is great news! George

There are several things to overcome with getting Wes the nomination. The Press, money, name recognition, and the seeming hostility of the political machine that runs this country at the idea of having an “outsider” attain the Presidency just to name a few. Some democrats are wary of the General because he’s worn the uniform. Some are concerned because he’s been an analyst on Fox. Some democrats are so partisan in their political favorites that they can’t accept Wes Clark as a presidential candidate because he’s not Hillary Clinton or that the General isn’t “charismatic” enough to win an election.

First, for the “No Generals for President” crowd;

General Wesley K. Clark did not start out as Supreme Commander - N.A.T.O / Europe. General Clark started out by winning a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University where he earned a Masters in Economics, Philosophy and Politics. After West Point, Wes served in combat in Vietnam, earning the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat, he went, and fought, and bled, so that others wouldn’t have to. One of the reasons Wes knows that war is the last choice, only to be turned to when absolutely every other option has been exhausted, is he knows what it’s like to get shot. Unlike our current President who hung out at the Officer’s Clubs of various Air National Guard bases during that troubled time, Wes saw his duty and did it, serving 3 tours in south east Asia.
After serving our country for 30 years, General Clark commanded N.A.T.O.’s Operation Allied Force, saving over a million and a half Albanians from genocide in Kosovo, all without losing the life of a single American soldier in combat. General Clark’s military prowess is well respected abroad by both our friends and (more importantly) by our enemies. Wes Clark’s abilities in helping to rebuild the infrastructure and economy of a nation devastated by years of civil war are also held in high regard. I can’t think of a better set of qualifications for a Commander in Chief than to know EXACTLY what he is doing if he has to send our sons and daughters into harms way.

Next, to those who are suspicious of Wes because he has been an analyst for Fox News;

Somebody had to do it. It’s obvious to anyone who has watched Fox News that this administration could not have asked for a better propaganda machine than Rupert Murdock’s media giant. No other democratic voice would step up and take on OReilly and his bunch on their own turf. Every time I have ever seen Wes on Fox, he is battling it out over the latest presidential screw up and trying to get the REAL effect of Bush’s bungling out to the viewers. The truth is, alot of moderate republicans and R.I.N.O.s  are just as fed up with this administrations stupidity as the rest of us, and Wes Clark is a voice of sanity and reason on a news station that is anything but. Also if you notice, Fox tends to try and control just how much time Wes spends on the air. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve seen them interupt him or switch to “breaking news” in the middle of an answer to some question that he gets asked. The times when they let Wes go to town, he generally wipes the floor with what ever hard line republican they send in after him. (I’d love to see what he would do to John McCain in a debate on foriegn policy and national security, or domestic policy for that matter).

Now I’ll speak to those out there who refuse to consider anyone who’s not whichever candidate happens to be their favorite;

Wes Clark is not Hillary Clinton, he’s not Barrack Obama, he’s not Edwards or Gore or anyone else. Wes is his own person and not “owned” by one special interest or another like so many of our “public servants”, he does’nt give back-handed, double talk political answers to hard questions. He’s got more intelect, expeireance, and resolve than any other candidate that I can think of. If you don’t want Wes because you think someone else is smarter or would make a better president because of their stances on policy then go and vote for them. But if you don’t want Wes becuase he’s not the “your guy”…. thats the kind of thinking that allowed Nader to cost us the 2000 election and handed our country over to Bush and his cronies for the last 6 years.

And finally the question of whether Wes Clark is “Charasmatic”;

Have you ever heard the man speak? I drove over a hundred miles to volunteer for him in Tulsa Oklahoma during 2004 after I had the oportunity to catch several of his visits to V.F.W.’s and other organizations on c-span. I have been fortunate enough to hear him speak on a couple of occasions and all I can say is the effect that Wesley K. Clark can have on an audience is nothing short of riviting. Don’t believe me? Go watch his address to the Texes Democratic Convention ( http://youtube.com/… ). If you think General Clark would’nt have appeal to the public atlarge, please, turn a t.v. camera on him, ask him a question, and watch what happens.

These are just a few of the reasons I think Wes Clark is the best person for the job of President of the United States. If there is another candidate out there thats better, I have’nt seen them, and I’ve looked.
