Proposed Amendments to the AR Constitution
From the House side;
-House Joint Resolution 1001, by Rep. Rick Saunders, D-Hot Springs, to increase the terms of county officials from two years to four years.
-HJR 1003, by Rep. Roy Ragland, R-Marshall, to abolish the office of constable.
-HJR 1004, by Rep. Eric Harris, R-Lowell, to require the General Assembly to meet in session every year instead of every two years. Fiscal sessions would be held in even-numbered years.
-HJR 1005, by Rep. Will Bond, D-Jacksonville, to authorize the General Assembly to establish a state lottery to help fund college scholarships and teacher bonuses.
From the Senate side;
-Senate Joint Resolution 1, by Sen. Bobby Glover, to require a three-fifths vote of each house of the General Assembly to levy or increase a tax or fee unless the constitution requires a three-fourths vote.
-SJR 2, by Glover, to increase the terms of county officials from two years to four years.
-SJR 3, by Glover, to establish a procedure for the recall of state public officials.
-SJR 4, by Sen. Steve Faris, D-Malvern, to repeal the requirement that the right to vote shall depend on any previous registration of an elector’s name and permitting the General Assembly to establish the date and time of elections and the qualifications of election officers.
-SJR 5, by Sen. Jimmy Jeffress, D-Crossett, to repeal the requirement that the right to vote shall depend on any previous registration of an elector’s name and permitting the General Assembly to establish the date and time of elections and the qualifications of election officers.
