No Recess From Bad Appointments
So here’s the deal. Cox a big contributor to the “Swiftboaters” is put up for nomination to be Ambassador to Belgium by the Bush Administration. After all, pay back is an important vehicle in the world of politics. Cox’s nomination just will not pass the smell test with Congress, so Bush quietly pull Cox’s nomination rather than have a nasty public battle with Congress. So, a week later, when Congress is on break, Bush appoints Cox as the Ambassador to Belgium. Bush has decided that he’ll deal with Congress the same way Cheney deals with Senators he disagrees with…go f**k yourself. Do you suppose Bush is itching for a Constitutional crisis? He’s packed the court, maybe he and his crimminals think they’d come out on top and we’d have marshal law and King George. Jesus, it’s going to be a long and dangerous 2 years.
Â
President Bush resorted to an old political trick this week, using recess appointments to evade Senate confirmation votes that he was sure to lose. All three are extraordinarily bad appointments — and three more reminders of how Mr. Bush’s claims of wanting to work with Congress’s Democratic leadership are just empty words.
