Huckabee’s Hopes Are Clintonesque, But Treasury So Far is Not
A nice informative piece in the GQPolitics as part of their Presidential candidate series on our very own Huckster. I’d forgotten about what a lucky son of a gun the Huckster was.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s potential as a 2008 Republican presidential contender has long intrigued political pundits.
- A former Baptist preacher, Huckabee holds strongly conservative views on social issues that could appeal to the large like-minded base among the national Republican primary electorate. Yet his efforts to apply his religious principles to areas such as improved education and environmental protection helped him cultivate broader appeal; that, in turn, earned him a 10-year tenure as governor in Arkansas, a state that has shifted less strongly toward the Republican Party than any other in the South.
