Pryor says impeachment hurts Hutchinson’s AG shot
Even a guy with an ego as large as Asa Hutchinson’s would have enough sense not to have anything to do with Bush’s critically wounded Administration wouldn’t they? The DOJ needs a trusted non partisan exterminator, Hutchinson doesn’t qualify for that. As well, Hutchinson would have to go back to work in Washington after January of ‘09 - Washington will be the land of the Democrats and it might not be a friendly atmosphere for someone who took the Atty Gen job and continuted to do Junior’s bidding. Let’s hope self-preservation can temper Hutchinson’s ego. As for Pyror, Hutchinson was passed over for the top job of the Department of Homeland Security for a reason.
Pryor says impeachment hurts Hutchinson’s AG shot
U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor said Friday that he’s comfortable with Asa Hutchinson as a potential attorney general, but said the former congressman’s role in prosecuting former President Clinton’s impeachment case could harm his chances.
“I think that probably does hurt him,” Pryor, D-Ark., told The Associated Press in an interview. “I think if you find any highly partisan activity in someone’s past, I think that hurts them right now.”
Hutchinson, a Republican and former federal Homeland Security official, has been mentioned as a potential candidate to replace Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who announced his resignation this week. Hutchinson said earlier this week that he had not been contacted by the White House about the top Justice Department post.
