Huckabee and campaign cash
Predictably, David Sanders is still comfortably bellied up to the Kool-Aide bar concerning the Huckster. Mike had a 2nd place finish in the Iowa straw poll last month and that was his gift to start raising money…he did not - he does not like raising money. This of course will keep Huckabee at the top of the second tier GOP Presidential list. Huckabee has always been running for VP - he ran for Lt first and moved into the Gov sooner than planned…but that was his plan. If Giuliani is the Gop’er nominee, chances are that the southern former Governor will be the VP nominee. That puts Arkansas front and center, where Arkansas’ 6 electoral votes may be the tipping point for a win…where a mighty fight may have to be fought between Hillary and the Huckster for those votes…do you think the Arkansas Democratic Party is listening or planning for this - I doubt it….
The Republican Party isn’t any closer to coalescing around one candidate. Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and John McCain have yet to convince Republicans. The jury is still out on Fred Thompson as his campaign has been plagued by a very shaky start. So there is still an opportunity for the former Arkansas governor to make a solid push. But if he wants to become a true contender and fill the void left by the current GOP lineup, he will have to adjust his focus and raise more money.
