Edwards - The Saddest Thing of All
Ok, the rumors that were whirling around Edwards’s head these last few months were true. He had an affair in 2006, and his wife and his God have forgiven him. Well, isn’t that convenient.
Here’s one thing that really gets under my skin; Edwards saw what happened with the feeding frenzy on Clinton, how Clinton’s affair, if you can call it that jeopardized the D’s keeping the White House in 1996. And frankly, if it wasn’t for the current greed, corruption and infidelity problems of the Republicans, the D party may still have the brand of the “immoral” “anti-family” party. You can be a Congressman and mess with male pages or hookers, but you can’t be a post Reagan President who’s cheated on his wife – even worse, a wife who has terminal cancer.
And still, after knowing all this and more, Edwards decides he’s still running for President in 2008. The arrogance and recklessness of Edwards is stunning. What, no one’s going to find out? Of course not, as an attorney, Edwards knows the truth will eventually come out. We can all imagine what we would be facing today, this very morning, if Edwards were our nominee…a total D meltdown, a trumping by the exuberant press and a nationwide decline in “trusting” our political leaders…as if it’s not low enough already. Then, the next 6 weeks as the demoralized D’s start the process of getting another nominee up and running. And lastly, a loss in a year in which the D’s should have taken back this country for the next 2 decades which was virtually guaranteed. Thank you Mr. Bush
Edwards frankly didn’t give a rat’s ass about what may happen to the Democratic Party and those folks that were doing the grunt work for his campaign. If you want to see a textbook example of blind ambition…this is it, John Edwards first, not his family, not his Party and not his Country, just Edwards’s blind ambition to be the POTUS.
The second thing that is eating at me is the timing. Did Edwards really tell the truth about his full disclosure to his wife Elizabeth in 2006? I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Mrs. Edwards is the brighter of the two, a much better legal mind and a success in her own right. If Edwards is telling the truth here, he and Elizabeth sat down in 2006 and made the decision to continue the run for POTUS, despite the evidence that if the affair were exposed he, his family and his political career and his Presidential run would come to a complete stop.
These two people are attorneys, and by their training, experience and very nature analyze full circle the ramifications of evidence, circumstances and timing. Did Elizabeth give the go ahead despite the inevitable brick wall they were facing? Would she put her family through this humiliation given all they’ve been through the last 10 years? I think not. I think she knew, just not in 2006 when she could of stopped this train wreck, but when she found out, the train was already running full speed and her only hope was that the train wreck would come later than sooner. This makes much more sense than the 2006 disclosure and if this is so, John Edwards is a lucky and blessed man despite his ego and arrogance. If it is so, then the country dodged a bullet; a calculating POTUS and his spouse who would take this kind of risk for power is not what this country needed right now…or ever again.
Lastly, and despite my anger and disappointment, John and Elizabeth Edwards brought poverty and the need for healthcare reform to the center stage of the 2008 campaigns. Issues that must be addressed and changed for the betterment of millions of American’s and these 2 advocates for the near future are silenced, and that may be the saddest thing of all.

I not only disapprove of Edward affair, and think he only admitted to try and repair his image and status. Americans are very forgiving.
