In 2000, Rove and Company beat John McCain like a chained yard dog in a trailer park. It made no difference to Rove/Bush that McCain was a “POW”, it made no difference that McCain was a respected and long sitting United States Senator. He wasn’t their man and they did and said anything to secure the primary win for Junior. It was ugly and brutal and frankly, at the time I felt sorry for McCain – being turned on by his own in such a stunning manner.

Eight years later McCain made a deal with the devil. He’d have the fundraising machine and the endorsement of Junior and the Party. In exchange, McCain would have to flip flop on some issues, throw the maverick under the bus and promise to carry the mantle and protect the jobs, power and money interests of the Republican Party. No change…for ’08. Deal done!!!

Despite the polls, we all know that Rove and the Party are numbers guys, and the only numbers that matter in a Presidential Election are the electoral votes. And they weren’t looking good for McCain…despite who his VP was going to be. A McCain/Republicans loss was on the horizon. But history has taught us that Rove/Republican machine leaves not stone unturned. If McCain loses it HAS to be because HE made a catastrophic error, giving the Republican Machine moving room and clean hands.

If you’ve done any reading and watched the Rovian tactics (I’ve been watching since the “room tapping” incident on Ann Richards campaign) you know that Rove targets women heavily. He knows that soft R and independent women do not vote just only the 3-G’s – Guns, God and Gays, they are not the fire breathing issue voters. Rove respects and fears this block. He also knows he needs to keep the fire breathers in the tent…Palin being a women might move a couple of points from the girls and Palin the staunch conservative would help cement the base. And this pick was only about the base.

That’s why when Palin was announced as McCain’s VP pick, I knew that McCain had returned to chained yard dog status and was a fixin’ to be thrown under his own bus…sadly, he doesn’t even know it.

It guaranteed that the Christian Right got their red meat candidate – a win for the Rove candidates of the future. The Palin pick also guaranteed that McCain’s judgment would be questioned everyday. When they finally clean up Palin and put her on the sacrificial MSM block, she’ll stumble and stumble badly. More questions about McCain and his judgment and by questioning his judgment the age issue will be part of that scenario.

What was important here was not McCain or Palin, it was pacifying the red meat right and if they lose this election, which they probably were going to do anyway, they keep the right in the fold to fight for another day, they get clean hands on the loss and they dodge the real danger that with this loss that the Republican Party would be irrelevant for decades.

The day that Obama/Biden take oath, there will be an organized and vicious campaign to undermine the new administration. The right will be on board, there will be nominations to the Supreme Court, increase in taxes for the rich…lots of change. The game plan will to split this country even more than it is…there will be no unity – and in 4 years, they’ll bring out Jeb Bush – to save America.

If Rove was an integral part of the Palin pick, McCain was used like a two-dollar whore and if he doesn’t know it by now, he’s to stupid to be the POTUS.

Wouldn’t ya hate to have to look in a mirror on November 5th and know that when you went against “them”, they tried to destroy you and when they needed you; they destroyed you to meet their ends? Republicanism at it’s finest.
